Taste 17: Fry Bread – 味覚 17:フラーイ・パン

Well, speaking of the Grand Canyon…

While on vacation, my family and I experienced what turns out to be quite a traditional dish (despite its controversial history) in American Indian cuisine, fry bread and the often resulting Indian taco (as seen above).

So when there was an article in the Denver Post about a new restaurant in Denver that specializes in fry bread, I was ecstatic and made plans to visit pronto, aka yesterday!  However, Tocabe is not open on Memorial Day, which we learned the hard way, so the actual visit will have to wait until a later date.

If you want to make fry bread yourself, go here.  Be forewarned however that the recipe makes 18 fry breads!

  1. Oh no!! I’m so sad it was closed but I’m wicked excited that this restaurant is in Denver. Yay! And that bread fryer/restaurant owner/narrator is pretty cute. You better get a back kitchen pass. Just tell him you need to interview him for the blog. Ha!

Please post review/pics when you guys finally make it. Fry bread… 🙂
